Zusammenfassung

The demand for expertise in research ethics and research integrity is increasing due to the fact that new research methods significantly raise the amount of sensitive personal and health-related information. Because these research methods are used in non-medical disciplines, ethical problems proliferate, which were previously known only in medical research, such as incidental findings or the handling of health data. Due to the highly internationalized community, researchers encounter very heterogeneous national standards for dealing with these ethical challenges. Researchers especially in non-medical disciplines face these ethical challenges without adequate institutional and educational support. Both national institutions and the EU try to unify and develop international standards. However, these endeavors will only be fruitful if they are firmly anchored in the ethical training of young scientists beyond medicine.
